Clifton City GovernmentClifton operates under a General Law, Type A, form of city government. It seats six elected officials on the City Council with two-year rotating terms.
Sources of revenue for its General Fund come from property tax, sales tax, franchise tax, and fines. Revenue Funds are acquired from fees for water, sewer, sanitation and other utility-related fees. The city has completed a surface water source. This will effectively double maximum capacity. Existing well system will supplement demand. Initial reservoir size of 500 acre/ft., provides one year water storage at current consumption. A new ABJ Batch Reaction sewage treatment plant is completed and operational, with a capacity of .65 mgd. Solid waste disposal is contracted. The nearest hazardous waste facility is 35 miles. |
